The Alaska Family Medicine Residency (AFMR) offers a 4 weeks long rotation to students who are interested in family medicine as a future career as well as plans to apply for Residency with the AFMR.  Students interested in this rotation must be from a medical program that is LCME accredited and located in the US.  Preference is given to students with ties to Alaska, but is not required. If you have a passion for Family Medicine and want to work in rural communities, they encourage you to apply. This program is filled for 2016-2017. Any students submitting an application for the current academic year will be put on the waiting list.  The Alaska Family Medicine Residency is now accepting applications for sub-intern rotations for 2017-2018 academic year. The last day to submit applications for a 2017-2018 sub-intern rotation is February 28, 2017. All applicants will be notified on March 10, 2017 by the Residency if they are offered a rotation or not. Please submit your application directly to By Thao at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with a subject line heading: Application for Sub-Internship (Student name, 2017-2018).

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee an offer of placement, nor funding support, by the Alaska AHEC. Be sure to read the Alaska AHEC Program policy on the home page if you are a medical student, PA, or NP student from outside of Alaska.
